Essay

The dissertation concerns substantiation of operational parameters for boss diamond deposits open-pit mining in Republic of Angola. The work makes overall assessment of raw material base in Republic of Angola explaining both situation and future of diamond deposits open-pit mining. Methodological approach to determine final contours of open pit for boss deposits is developed. A range of total depth for open-pit and its spoil bank slope are determined. The values depend on rock mass hardness characteristics. Quality assessment of blasting preparation for rocks having various levels of hardness is substantiated. The factor helps involve volumetric density effect of explosive providing control of rock fragmentation quality index. For the first time it is identified analytical dependence of newly formed (after blasting) free surface of heterogeneous mass as a result of explosive and its density. The analysis is recommended and accepted to implement constructive design of spoil bank of "Katoka" open-pit while deepening. It is expected that economic effect is USD 3.4 mln.
