Essay

The object is the physical processes of interaction and excitation of oscillations in the microwave cut-off open waveguide resonators (OWR) with partial metal-dielectric filling. Methods of investigation are the standard equation method, the finite element method, a fractional-rational approximation and experimental measurements. The structure of electromagnetic fields and parameters behavior of biconical resonators (BCR) under conditions of tuning the resonance frequency by metallic and dielectric rods is under consideration. It is shown that the use of the fractional-rational approximation allows to estimate the parameters of adjacent resonance oscillations even with almost complete overlap of the peaks of the frequency response corresponding to these oscillations. It is introduced a quantitative measure of the overlap of the resonance curves. It is identified the behavior of the resonance frequencies and Q-factor of coupled BCR with the dielectric insert in one of them. It was proposed a method of estimating the dielectric constant by the frequency difference and dielectric loss tangent by ratio of resonance peak magnitudes of coupled resonators. Scope: Radiophysics, microwave engineering.
