Essay

The dissertation is aimed to clarify the systematic position, stratigraphic distribution, morphology, and paleoecology of rodents from the Late Miocene localities Egorovka and Palievo. The rodent assemblages include 18 species of 12 genera belonging to Sciuridae, Gliridae, Anomalomyidae, Castoridae, Dipodidae, Muridae and Cricetidae. Eight species and two genera were recognized for the Neogene of Ukraine for the first time. The dissertation reveals a previously unknown morphological structures and phylogenetic model for an early cricetids. The dental microwear analysis allowed paleodietary reconstruction for the examined taxa.
