Essay

The dissertation focuses on improving effective treatment for patients suffering from deep herpetic keratitis. Reasonable use of complex treatment with the application of "Phlogenzym" included clinical examination of 103 patients (103 eyes) with deep herpetic keratitis aged 15 to 97 years. "Phlogenzym" application in complex treatment of patients with deep herpetic keratitis had a positive effect on the clinical features: visual acuity, pericorneal injection, resolution of infiltration of cornea, inflammative reaction of anterior chamber humor. The patient of the main group had better positive clinical and biochemical dynamics of tear fluid and blood. A more rapid decrease of lactic dehydrogenase, malate dehydrogenase, glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase, glutathione acidized & more higher levels of glutathione reduced and glutathione peroxidase was observed among the patients of this group. The main group displayed a more rapid decrease of proteases and antiproteases in tear fluid and blood in comparison with control group. For the first time in ophthalmology, a new effective treatment for deep herpetic keratitis with application of "Phlogenzym" is used in the complex treatment of this disease.
