The thesis is devoted to the actual problem – analysis of sources of the Starytsky prosopography family portrait. The paper defines the concept of prosopography family portrait and main features of its writing. The complex of sources of the different types and kinds that is required is defined, their classification is made, the information features of each type of sources are found, their use in the creating of Staritsky prosopography family portrait is justified. The structure of source base includes: the written sources (materials of the official origin and the personal origin, the artistic heritage, periodicals), the figurative sources (the artworks, cinedocuments) and the material sources (furniture, personals, library, private collections, buildings).
