Essay

The object of study: the physical processes responsible for interaction of microwave fields of the whispering gallery mode axially symmetrical resonators (ASR) (open barrel-shaped and disk dielectric ones) with low-loss media. The aim: the reveal of spectral characteristics of ASR necessary for design of adequate techniques of low-temperature radiospectroscopy. The results: the experimental techniques of investigation of ASR at 0.5 - 300 K and study of the interaction of electromagnetic waves with liquid helium are developed; main mechanisms of losses for materials with different lattices are elucidated. The scope: radiophysics, radiospectroscopy, low temperature physics.
