Bailo M. Quality of remission in case of schizophrenia and its pharmacological support

The thesis is based on the complex clinical, psychopathological and psychometric examination of 198 patients with continuous-current paranoid form of schizophrenia in the process of application of standard antipsychotic therapy - a control group, 103 patients - and of combination therapy with using of lamotrigine - experimental group, 95 patients - the peculiarities of the course of pathologic process and the changes of symptomatology depending upon the type of treatment were studied. The effect of therapeutic intervention on the quality of the formed remission was researched. It was found that the use of lamotrigine as an additional therapy drug together with standard antipsychotic therapy allows to achieve the more acute reduction of symptoms, the improvement of cognitive functioning and leads to the formation of more qualitative remission using smaller doses of antipsychotic drugs and during a shorter period of inpatient treatment.
