Busel G. The Genre of Biography in Anthony Burgess's Literary Writings (based on "Nothing like the sun" and "Shakespeare").

The object of research is the biographical novel "Nothing Like the Sun" and the literary biography "Shakespeare". The goal of this research is to study of genre features of A. Burgess's biographical heritage on the example of two works belonging to the different genre subtypes - the biographical novel "Nothing Like the Sun" and the literary biography "Shakespeare"; to define the dominant characteristics of poetics of the above-mentioned biographies in the context of the main tendencies of development of modern Western literature. The methods are historico-typological, comparative, systematic and analytical, biographical, hermeneutics and interpretive, intertextual approach. The insufficiently investigated and debatable problems of Anthony Burgess's biographical prose are systematically considered in the thesis on the example of the complex analysis of two literary works - the biographical novel "Nothing Like the Sun" and the literary biography "Shakespeare". The specifics of realization of the biographical genre in the novel "Nothing Like the Sun" and the literary biography "Shakespeare" are analyzed in detail for the following parameters: documentary foundation, correlation between fact and fiction, artistic and interpretive originality of interpretation of the facts, intertextual background, degree of autobiographical elements, author's strategy in the communicative triad "author - character - reader", compositional, stylistic and structural features of the texts. The analysis made possible the revealing of the peculiarities of the realization of biographical genre in A. Burgess's prose. The scope is an education process
