Essay

In the Unionidae fauna of Ukraine six species of Unionicola genus mites are found, namely, U. ypsilophora, U. intermedia, U. bonzi, U. aculeata, U. crassipes, U. hankoi. U. crassipes species is found for the first time in Unionidae. U. hankoi species is found for the first time within Ukraine. The aberration of genital plates is registered in U. intermedia, U. aculeata and U. bonzi. Unionicola genus mites are found in Unionidae in all river basins of Ukraine, except rivers in Crimea. It is established that in Ukrainian hydrocoenosis both native species and introductory S. woodiana are invaded with Unionicola genus water mites, the extensivity index in Unioninae subfamily is 1,7 times nigher than in Anodontinae.
