Essay

The thesis work is dedicated to the issues of increasing the efficiency of diagnosing and curing community-acquired pneumonia associated with iron deficiency anemia in toddlers and children of preschool age on the basis of complex investigations of iron-containing protein, immune and microelement status of the blood serum, evaluation of the qualitative and numerical composition of the colon microflora and using synbiotics in the complex therapy. There has been determined a disorder of composition of the colon microflora, imbalance of the cellular, humoral and phagocytic immunity, indices of interleukin and iron-containing protein and the contents of microelements in the blood serum of the children suffering from community-acquired pneumonia associated with iron deficiency anemia. On the ground of the investigations conducted, the conclusion has been made that in order to evaluate the development of both community-acquired pneumonia associated with iron deficiency anemia without anemia, to monitor the efficiency of the introduced medical treatment and to foresee the development of the disease in children suffering from the community-acquired pneumonia, in clinical practice it is recommended to study the immunological parameters, the content of microelements such as iron, zinc, copper and manganese in the blood serum, ferritin and transferrin levels, and the microbiological status of bowels. In order to increase the efficiency of treating the children suffering from both community-acquired pneumonia associated with iron deficiency anemia and community-acquired pneumonia without anemia, a complex scheme for treatment with using synbiotics has been proposed.
