The thesis is devoted to the study of aesthetic and social nature of intellectualism in literature in its content (philosophy) and style (poetics) features in the modes of its creation and reception. For the first time in Ukrainian literary criticism, on a broad historical and literary material in the integrity of Ukrainian and foreign methodological approaches conceptual understanding of intellectualism in literature is analyzed taking into account the special principle of creative thinking, a concept of "intellectualism in literature," which has synergistic nature and means the phenomenon that has arisen as a result of penetration of the content of the work of intellectual and philosophical principles at the intersection of feeling and thinking, art, science and philosophy that takes us to the concept of "philosophical literature", "existentialism", "aesthetic reflection", the mechanism of occurrence and development of intellectualism in literature on the imaginary line of intersection between philosophy and literature as cultural and spiritual practices, forms of cognition and verbal creativity. Moreover, intellectual literature searches the philosophic truth in existential orientations and aesthetic reflection as a special kind of reflection when the process of creation has been embodied in an image and text, and it is open and accessible to perception, prepared by the reader, the text laid the basis for the author plot fable content that is mostly minor, for the author / reader's reflection, in the process of creating broken inherent in traditional literature and normative specification has a tendency to create and use meta-genre and metalanguage, moral and ethical guidelines given in combination of artistically modified actions, emotions and thinking, the reality of the art world performing experimental illustrative role is a kind of argument for reflection, expression, narrative is not logical and conceptual, and artistic and expressive checking the author's conception of theoretical positions, opinions of the author / hero in the art of reality occurs in experimental situations, at conventions and game that requires not only imagination but also reflection, the result of intellectualized literature is produced as a special mood effect on the reader, in which there is evidence of artistic ideas appeal not only to the senses, but also to the mind, intentionality, a special feature of intellectual literature is its sensibility (the work of thought) when thinking dominates on the emotional and aesthetic perception of the reader.
