Guzerchuk O. Prosodic Means of Realisation of Encouragement Utterances in Modern English Discourse: An Experimental Phonetic Study

This dissertation focuses on the study of encouragement utterances actualization in modern English discourse. The thesis demonstrates the invariant parameters of empathetic and rational encouragement utterances depending on their communicative and pragmatic functions, systematizes English encouragement utterances according to their structural, functional and semantic criteria, substantiates the actualization model of simultaneous stages of the encouragement utterances as well as the scheme of communicative encouragement speech act. The peculiarities of the prosodic parameters interaction in the process of encouragement actualization have been established in the modern dialogue discourse.
