Krasnytska K. The verbalized concept CARDINAL POINTS OF THE GLOBE in the English language cognitive model of the world

The concept CARDINAL POINTS OF THE GLOBE is studied in this paper as a component of the English cognitive model of the world. The analyzed concept is a complex unity of four subconcepts EAST, WEST, SOUTH, NORTH.The textual selection from 57 English literary texts and 2000 titles of the English literary works that contain verbalized elements of the CARDINAL POINTS OF THE GLOBE concept provided the material for the study of the image and the connotative component of the concept under consideration. This material also enabled the establishment of the existing associative connections of the subconcepts EAST, WEST, SOUTH, NORTH with other constituents of the English conceptual system.
