Essay

The thesis is devoted to detailed lithological researches using formational analysis and taking into account the paleogeographic data. Based in results of researches of extent, spatial spreading (the scope of tyraska and kosivska formations were defined separately) and facies conditions of formation of miocene sediments in the central part of the Volhyno-Podillia represented by carpathian, badenian and sarmatian regiostages. Within the limits of Neogene such formational units (subformation and complexes of facies) as has been allocated: marine carbonate-terrigenous of small depths of middle-upper Miocene; marine terrigenous-carbonate of average depths of the middle-upper Miocene; continental (freshwater) carbonate-terrigenous of Lower Miocene; freshened bays and lagoons terrigenous-organic of middle Miocene; salty and bitter-salty of lagoons sulfate-carbonate of middle Miocene. Based on facies analysis detailed lithofacies cards of new generation has been created. Detailed lithostratigraphic partition of lithological diverse and complicated structure of Neogene has been performed by a single authors' system of optimal methods and criteria and this had been allowed the refine stratigraphic scheme of Miocene in regional studies. Relationship of different types of mineral resources with specific litofacies and facies different stratigraphic levels of the Neogene has been established. We have identified and delineate promising areas for different types of mineral resources and we have established the appropriate maps.
