Essay

An object - the process of voice traffic transferring into IP-based networks. Subject of research - methods to minimize overhead in voice traffic tunneling into IP-based networks. Research Methods - the proposed method based on the principles of the theory of telecommunication networks, and its mathematical model constructed by analytical simulation using queuing theory and probability theory. Theoretical and practical results: The developed automated system for assessing the effectiveness of mechanisms to minimize overhead in IP-telephony networks. Designed kernel module of the Linux, which implements the functionality of the proposed method. Scientific novelty: 1. For the first time proposed adaptive to changes in the parameters of the network environment and telecommunications traffic method for minimizing overhead for tunneling voice traffic to IP-based networks, which is definition "aggregation time" voice frames into a single package on the basis of collected over time and statistical information allows to provide a predetermined level of compression overhead and latency. 2. For the first time developed a method for evaluating the economic efficiency to minimize overhead in telecommunication networks, which is based on determining the level of saving depletable resources by reducing the need to transfer information network bandwidth and allows to determine the appropriateness of the level of this or that in a particular setting. 3. Improved methods of header compression for minimizing overhead for tunneling voice traffic to IP-based networks by saving on the compressor and decompressor variables and renewable header with the IP protocol headers UDP and RTP, which improves the efficiency of transmission of useful information by increasing the number of concurrent RTP -session organized between two servers of IP-telephony. 4. An improved method of sessions aggregation by adding to it the properties of the compensation packages of the grouping of single session, reducing the average for all sessions jitter. The dissertation research was conducted in the framework of contractual research works commissioned by the State Administration of Communications of Ukraine and by the Institute of Telecommunications and Global Information Space of the NAS of Ukraine. The results are available for the use of telecommunication equipment manufacturers and software developers to implement mechanisms to improve the efficiency of telecommunications voice traffic to IP-based networks.
