Essay

The solution of one of urgent problems in oncology - improvement of direct and remote results of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treatment by high dose tamoxifen therapy use in combination with standard anticancer treatment schemes is showed in dissertation based on clinical material (124 patient with III - IV stages of NSCLC). Expression of estrogen receptors a and progesterone revealed in 1,6 % cases, and estrogen receptors b (ERb) - in 50,8 % patients with advanced NSCLC. It is shown, that the expression of ERb in tumor tissue is favorable prognostic factor of patients with unresectable and metastatic NSCLC: one-year survival in patients with ERb expression was 47,6 %, but in patients with its absence - only 29,8 % (р < 0,05). Effectiveness of treatment and overall survival of patients, which received high doses of tamoxifen in addition to standard treatment schemes (chemotherapy and radiotherapy), were proved to be statistically better (one-year and median survival - 57,1 % and 13 months, respectively) than in patients, which received only standard anticancer treatment (one-year and median survival - 38,6 % and 10 months, respectively).
