The notion "investment potential of the shipping company of inland water transport" is offered and grounded. The detailed classification of the internal factors of influence is given and the need to improve methodical approach to assessment of investment potential of the shipping companies is proved. This analysis of inland European water transport activity has necessitated the development of the Ukrainian shipping companies' investment potential. The total system evaluation and the realization of shipping companies investment potential is worked out. Practical implementation of this system will enable: to objectively evaluate the current state of the company's economic, financial, technical indicators; to determine the company's rating in the industry; to calculate the cost estimate of the shipping company in the current and future periods; to define maximized cost of the investment project. It can be used as a criterion for decision-making on the implementation of the investment potential of the shipping company of inland water transport.
