The thesis is devoted to the substantiation and development of ways for improving the methodology used for the complex statistical analysis of the market of the road transport services. The author has done research into the system of statistical indices of the market of the road transport services, which characterize in a comprehensive manner the phenomena and processes that take place at this market. The analysis has made it possible to assess the tendencies of development and the situation in the market of transporting goods and passengers. The author has suggested some methodological approaches and tools for conducting integral evaluation of the potential inherent in the domestic road transport market in the regions of Ukraine, which has led to determining the degree of its maturity and possibilities of its further expansion. The paper contains the results of analyzing the dynamics and structure of freight road carriage across the border of Ukraine. The main trends of the changes in the turnover of cross- border freight carriage structure have been determined both geographically (based on the countries of departure) and by types of goods (the nomenclature). The notion of road transport transit potential as the main component of transit potential of Ukraine has been considered. The paper contains the classification of factors that determine the transit potential of road transport, as well as the assessment of the extent and effectiveness of their use in Ukraine. The dynamic analysis of the volume of road transit freight transportation has been carried out, both comprehensively and in terms of the countries of departure and types of goods transported. Estimates of future volumes of road transit freight carriage have been suggested.
