In dissertation the reasons of worsening of fuel economy of petrol engines during work on the modes of the partial loading are analysed. It is marked, that one of directions of this problem decision is the use of drive of the valves (-actuating) gear with a variable valve stroke for adjusting of engine power. For conducting of engineless and engine tests drive of the valves (-actuating) gear is developed with the hydraulic drive of valves. Its optimum structural parameters are defined. The tests showed the improvement of fuel economy of petrol engine on 8-10% comparatively with the traditional method of power adjusting.
