Kovbaniuk M. The Sentence Semantico-Syntactic Structure with the Secondary Predicate (Based on the Ukrainian Adverbial Participle and the French Gerund)

The thesis is devoted to the research of the secondary predicate functioning in a simple non-elementary sentence. It has been used a variety of methods: inductive, deductive and descriptive methods, modeling, methods of component analysis, typological method, statistical methods of quantitative analysis. A system description of the semantic potential of the sentences with a Ukrainian adverbial participle and a French gerund from the standpoint of the semantico-syntactic language level has been implemented. The secondary adverbial participial and gerundial predicates classification has been produced. Taxis, casual, conditional-consequent, concessive semantics of the comparable categories have been described. The semantico-syntactic models of the valency potential sentence with a secondary predicate in the comparable languages have been represented. The common and distinctive features of the secondary adverbial participial and gerundial predicates functioning in the comparable languages have been determined. The thesis presents an information source, which opens perspectives for further scientific research; the research makes a contribution to the theoretical aspects of comparative semantic syntax. The actual material, the main conclusions and generalizations can be used while writing books and developing lectures and practical courses.
