Essay

The thesis is focused on research and development of electrometallurgy technology of ferroalloys such as ferrophosphorus and copper-phosphorus-master alloy smelting using domestic phosphorites. Computer simulation of phase equilibria in the Fe-P-C system was carried out with ThermoCalc R software and SSOL2 thermodynamic database.Mineral structure of the phosphorite ore and its composition were analysed with electron microscopy and EPMA. Thermodynamic analysis of the phosphorite reduction by carbon in the presence of iron(copper) was carried out. Experiments were included briqueting of phosphorite, carbon and cast iron chips. Ferrophosphorus (8-10% P) smelting was made in the IST-0.06 furnace with carbon lining. The microstructure of the ferrophosphorus was analyzed (iron phosphide 12.3%, Si 0.94%, Fe 86.67%, alpha2 phase (identical to the Fe-Si system)). The environmental conditions of ferrophosphorus smelting in ferroalloys electric arc furnaces as well as ferrophosphorus use for steel and cast iron alloying were analysed.
