Essay

The thesis deals with the justification of gender identification in the performance interpretation with particular reference to the chamber vocal pieces by Russian and Ukrainian composers of the 19th-early 20th centuries. Basing on the historical retrospective of the 18th-19th century vocal performing art there have been revealed some peculiarities relating to the display of gender identity. An author's cognitive model of gender-performing analysis, created with a glance to specific features of the gender influence (masculine, feminine, androgynous) on the vocal performance process, is offered. Classification of gender types of performing chamber vocal pieces by Russian and Ukrainian composers is presented.
