Essay

Object - the process of availability assessment for instrumentation and control systems (I&Cs) using an off-the-shelf software; aim - to increase an accuracy of availability assessment for I&Cs; methods - system analysis, sets theory, Markov processes theory, object-oriented analysis, numerical methods; results - development of tool and procedures of tools selection that form information technology for I&Cs availability assessment using Markov models (MM); novelty - the new metric-based models were developed, which are based on the application of several MM characteristics, which helps in analyzing of those characteristics effect on accuracy and amount of resources needed for assessment; the information technology of I&Cs availability assessment was enhanced by detailed analysis of assessment risks; the reactor trip systems availability MM were enhanced by accounting several variants of system software failure rate, which increases the estimation accuracy; implementation - in RPC "Radiy" and RPC "RadICS", Kirovohrad, in project TEMPUS-SAFEGUARD, in NAU "KhAI"; application field - information technologies.
