Essay

Object of study: topography and spreading of the hair-covering pigmentation in black-and-white cows and its relationship with economic useful traits. Aim of research: investigating the dependence of economically useful traits of animals on their pigmentation level, studiers the topography of hair-covering on the body, developing an improved technique of determining the percentage correlation between pigmented and pigment less parts of the hair cover in black-and-white cow breeds. Methods of research: zootechnic, morpho-logical and physiological, biological, population, variation and statistic, economic. Scientific novelty: it is for the first time in Ukraine that the level of the hair-covering pigmentation is determined and the distribution of color degrees with the nose of computer technology is made. A computer program for determine the degree of pigmentation from the photo is developed. The symmetry of color is investigated. The relation between the pigmentation of animals and milk yield is revealed. Degree of implementation: The results of the investigation have been introduced into the pedigree cattle-breeding farm of Ukrainian black-and-white breed on "Yerchyky" private agribusiness firm (Zhytomyr oblast). Sphere of application: pedigree cattle-breeding farms, pedigree producers, higher educational establishments engaged in training specialists in "The technology of production and processing of animal products".
