Essay

The dissertation investigates the problem of consciousness. The main emphasis is placed on understanding the nature of consciousness by mentalism and evolutionism trends. Representatives of these trends occupy radically opposite positions in determining the nature of consciousness.The author found the inability to explain the phenomenon of consciousness from the perspective of a single approach. Any reductionism (whether idealistic, or materialistic) leads to a one-sided understanding of consciousness.
