Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the engineering of highly selective amperometric chlorine sensor, with the measuring range 1-1000 ppm. There were investigated the reasons of limiting the upper limit of the measurement to amperometric sensors with matrix electrolytes. It was developed the model of mass transfer in electrochemical systems chlorine sensors, which takes into account the stage of transport in the gas and liquid phases of the indicator electrode, which were not taken into account previously. It was suggested the independent transport of chlorine in the form of a product of its interaction either with the solvent or with the specially selected redox electrolyte system (mediator catalysis). There was used iodine-iodide system as mediator. New sensors are dominated by measuring range, resolution, response time, selectivity and lifetime of well-known foreign analogues.
