Essay

A contribution serving as proof has been made to the evidence basis of the hypothesis regarding the leading role of metabolic obesity, against which a rapid development of atherosclerosis is observed in individuals with normal body weight. Research object: cardiovascular risk in patients with type 2 diabetes against the normal body weight. Objective: to increase the effectiveness of cardiovascular risk reduction in patients with type 2 diabetes and normal body weight by verification the features of its formation and substantiation of approaches to the correction of certain factors. Methods: epidemiological, anthropometric, immunoenymic, biochemical, sonographic, and mathematical (statistical analysis of the results). Carotid ultrasonography was performed using Philips HD 11 XE apparatus with a linear format sensor in the frequency range of 5-10 MHz. It has been established that higher rates of atherosclerosis development are observed in patients with type 2 diabetes against normal body weight than on the background of obesity. The disease is manifested mainly by greater frequency of revealing carotid artery plaques in the groups of patients, similar in age and duration of diabetes. Ways for correction of some cardiovascular risk factors have been proposed for patients with type 2 diabetes and normal body weight: it has been proved that even 10 sessions of volumetric pneumopressing contribute a significant reduction of the fat layer thickness in the anterior abdominal wall and buttocks, and the prescription of fibrates reduces not only the level of triglycerides, but also positively corrects other lipid disorders. Results of the research have been introduced into practical work of endocrinologists, general practitioners / family doctors in medical institutions of Kharkiv and different regions of Ukraine (Dnipropetrovska, Sumska, Ternopilska, Zaporizka, Mykolayivska, and Kharkivska).
