Essay

The work is dedicated to determination of the role of calcium ions and reactive oxygen species (ROS) as signal mediators and antioxidant enzymes and low molecular weight compounds (sugars and proline) in the implementation of the stress-protective effects of brassinosteroids (BS) and to the investigation of functional interaction between proline and antioxidant enzyme system under the influence on plants abiotic stressors and exogenous BS. It was established that under the influence of BS there was an increase in the resistance of the isolated organs, seedlings and adult plants of wheat and millet to hyperthermia, dehydration and salt stress, increase in the activity of antioxidant enzymes, sugar content and reducing of proline content.
