Essay

The thesis is dedicated to the research of genre nature of philosophical novel during the Romantic period in the context of the French philosophical prose. It is stated that the genre specifics of philosophical discourse of the French romantic novel as a part of the European philosophical prose are revealed mainly through the reflection of problems or issues of universal contents (historisophical, culturological). The artistic and aesthetic integrity of the particular variant of such kind of work as novel dilogy "Consuelo" and "The Countess von Rudolstadt" by George Sand is researched. The following constituents of philosophical bent of the defined novels are pointed out: 1) philosophical specifics of the chronotop; 2) romantic by its nature artistic and philosophical interpretation of history; 3) discourse of romantic philosophy; 4) philosophy of art.
