The thesis is devoted to actual scientific task of improving the competitiveness of the steel industry under globalization. The object of research is a process of metallurgical enterprise competitiveness under globalization. Subject of research - theoretical bases and methodological approaches to the problem of improving the competitiveness of the metallurgical industry in world markets considering globalization influences. The study used general scientific and special methods, including comparative, structural and qualitative analysis, synthesis; economic and statistical, graphical methods, technical and economic analysis; the analytic hierarchy; method of systemic modeling and dynamic simulation experiments. Systematized impacts on the competitiveness of steel plants in the degree of ability to change and the degree of impact on the level of global competitiveness. A conceptual approach to improving the competitiveness of the metallurgical industry based on consideration of changing its main components: potential, marketing, effective. Substantiated scientific methodical approach to determining the integral evaluation of the enterprise in the conditions of globalization on the basis of formation of the system of basic and general indicators for its components. A structural-hierarchical approach to the selection of the optimal strategy to increase competitiveness. Formed analytical basis for evaluation of changes in the competitiveness of enterprises by areas of occurrence and impact of globalization on levels of decision-making.
