For the first time in Ukrainian religious studies a systematic understanding of the phenomenon of religion expertise has been presented in this work. It has been determined that the essence of religious expertise is a set of features in specific church-state relations arising from institutional, territorial and functional ways of organizing these relations. Based on this a variety of religious expertise strategies have been offered. An expert in a religious studies expertise is the person who has special knowledge of religion, has research methods of socio-historical nature of religion, mechanisms of social ties with political, legal, economic, spiritual systems of society, especially their impact on believers. The International principles of religious expertise are: objectivity, tolerance, humanity. It is conducted within the constitutional, administrative, criminal, civil and business processes.
