Rubchak O. Prosodic Organization of English Interviews (Experimental Phonetic Study)

The dissertation deals with the experimental research of prosodic organization of English interviews. The research was carried out on the basis of interviews selected from English teaching audio courses, as well as on interviews recorded from the Internet. The samples were analyzed by using complex perceptive and electroacoustic analyses. The thesis substantiates theoretical bases of investigating actualization of English interviews, establishes main communicative and linguistic features of English interviews as a linguistic phenomenon. The electroacoustic analysis of the data allowed to reveal common (localization of main tone frequency, variation of intensity maximum) and different prosodic features (variation of main tone frequency, speech tempo, pauses) of prepared and spontaneous English interviews.
