The thesis investigates means of revealing secondary linguistic identity in the English literary discourse of contemporary British writers of Ukrainian origin M. Lewycka and A. Shevchenko, as well as a native-born American J. Charles with fluency in Ukrainian and Russian. The paper offers the definitions of secondary linguistic identity from different perspectives and a comprehensive methodology for its study. The types of secondary linguistic identity have been examined from the point of view of bilingualism and other aspects. The thesis also suggests the classification of means of revealing secondary linguistic identity in the English literary discourse and substantiates their similar and different features.
