Sedliar M. Innovative development of the national economy: state, trends and modernization imperatives

This thesis is devoted to the investigation of theoretical and practical aspects of the issue of the national economy of Ukraine transition to innovative type of development. The author reveals the history of study of the nature and civilization role of innovations and their relation to knowledge, the essence of innovative development from the perspective of macroeconomy. The necessity for rejection of catch-up modernization and redirection on outstripping model of national economy is reasoned. The principal directions of modernization of the national economy of Ukraine including institutional, technological, administrative-territorial, educational and the national legal systems are established. Proved that achieving of positive effects from integrated modernization and transition to innovative type of development of the national economy of Ukraine is possible only providing concentration and addressing of key concerns on modernization actualities. The strategic industrial priorities of the development of national economy of Ukraine following the utilization of BCG matrix among which are power industry (bio- and alternative), nanotech and new materials industry, bioeconomy, aircraft- and missile industry are determined. Positive and negative directions of globalization effect on innovative development of the national economy of Ukraine, as well as principal risks and contradictions Ukraine can face under the conditions of transition to economy of knowledge are disclosed.
