The present research paper is devoted to the comparative and experimental phonetic research of geminate consonants in Ukrainian and German languages in diachrony and synchrony. The purpose is to determine the status of phonemic geminated consonants in Ukrainian and German. The object is geminated consonants in Ukrainian and German. The scientific novelty: geminated consonants are the subject of the first comprehensive comparative historical analysis.
