The research focuses on theoretical and methodical positions and development of practical recommendations for improving the management of the strategic development of enterprises. The current state of the baking industry is investigated and trends of development of enterprises of baking industry are defined. The concepts of strategic management are developed in the definitions of "enterprise development" and "strategic development of the company". The assessment of the state of strategic management at the enterprises of the baking industry is held. The approach to assessing the innovative potential is improved. The methodological approaches to determining the strategic position of the enterprise and the strategic choice of development are proposed. The methodical approach based on hierarchy analysis method for the diagnosis and choosing the right business operations of the enterprise is improved.
