Object - historical-philosophical reflection about the nature and relationship of action and inaction of a person. The purpose is to identify the nature of the major characteristics of the opposition of activity and inactivity in historical and philosophical context. Methods - the method of existential analysis, phenomenological method, historical-comparative and dialectical methods. The study was meaningful opposition of the action and inaction of a person, specified existential understanding of the activities and also identifies essential features of the phenomenon of omission (mainly in its destructive forms). Clarified definitions of the terms "activity" and "inactivity" of a person and found that the problem of human inaction and the relationship of activity and inactivity becomes the actualization within the framework of modern philosophy. Application area: history of philosophy, social philosophy, philosophical anthropology, educational process.
