The research focuses on the cognitive-communicative specificity of subjective modality in modern English language. The work analyses language means of positive, neutral and negative evaluation expression that forms subjective modality categorical basis; it investigates pragmatic, social, cognitive and linguocultural peculiarities of English evaluative speech. On the basis of modern English works of fiction the cognitive-communicative specificity of subjective modality is defined.
