Essay

There were studied the basic aspects of improving the quality of life in patients with cancer of the esophagus and gastroesophageal junction after esophagogastroplasty by using surgical corrections and pharmacological therapy of functional disorders. A physical and mathematical model of intrathoracic stomach was proposed, which allows to investigate the physical laws of the evacuation of the intrathoracic stomach contents depending on the width of the graft, its shape, size draining the stomach pyloric channel and indicates a significant difference (p < 0.05) at the time of evacuation fluid and a thick consistency of food and underlines the reasons for biliogastric and gastroesophageal reflux. A surgical correction to prevent esophagogastroplasty functional impairments aimed at accelerating the evacuation of intrathoracic gastric graft and to prevent reflux esophagitis improve patients "nutritional" comfort (58.3 % during first postop. year). Additional application regimen of proton pump inhibitors (omeprazole 20 mg) leads to improved nutritional status and quality of life of the given category of patients.
