The subject of the research: integration the Slovak Republic to the European Union. The aim of the dissertation: based on a study of existing scientific papers and documentary materials to implement a comprehensive study of the integration process of the Slovak Republic to the European Union, to determine the value of the process for the development of the country. The methods: analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, accentuation, systematic, logical, dynamic, synchronous, diachronic, statistical, historical-genetic, historical-psychological, synthesis, methods of typology and classification, the phenomenological analysis. Scientific novelty: based on the analysis of historical sources and existing studies on this issue have been disclosed the main driving forces of European integration processes, traced the stages of their development and formation, it defines the role and place them in Slovakia; based on a study of the genesis of the Slovak national identity and statehood has been allocated a set of internal and foreign assumptions that have contributed to the inclusion of Slovakia into the European integration processes, first as a part of the Czechoslovak Federal Republic, and since 1993 - as an independent state; a study of the complex political, economic and social factors that influence the course and the pace of integration of the Slovak Republic to the EU. Develop a detailed periodization integration of Slovakia in the EU; according to the analysis of changes in the political, economic and socio-cultural sphere, which took place in the period 2004-2014 has been allocated a number of positive and negative trends, the development of which has been associated with the country's accession to the European Union; as a result of comparing the positive and negative trends agreed on the desirability of joining the EU. The practical meaning of investigation: materials of the dissertation can be used in the design, adjustment and implementation of Ukraine's foreign policy, aimed at integration into the European and Euro-Atlantic structures; during the preparation of scientific works, tutorials and special courses on the history of European integration and the modern history of Slovakia. Field of application: universities, state administrations.
