Thesis provides developments concerning theoretical provisions and practical recommendations for methods to be applied during investigation of property appropriation and conversion or embezzlement. The position of this crime category in the profit-based crime structure is defined; the content and the relation of its criminal characteristic elements are analyzed. The peculiarities of the crime detection and initial investigative stage organization are specified. The procedure regulating the cooperation of investigators with operative units, forensic service and regulatory bodies is thoroughly investigated. Set of recommendations concerning performance of investigative activity aimed at collection of material evidence for forensic expertise is provided. Amendments to the relevant articles of the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine are offered.
