Essay

The thesis researched the clinical course features of basic dental diseases of children with autism. During the survey 112 children with autism (from 2 to 18 years) a massive prevalence of caries of deciduous teeth was discovered. It has been proved that decompensated course of caries process prevail in children aged 5-6 years with autism, which is accompanied by dysbiosis of oral cavity and changes of mineralization ability of oral fluid. The major revealed periodontal tissues pathology is chronic catarrhal gingivitis (97 %). Malocclusion was diagnosed in 71.15 % of the examined children. Developed and proved hygiene education program aims at the prevention of major dental diseases of children with autism. The program comprised several stages: informational, professional actions stage, hygiene skills forming, recommendations, preventive measures stage, which included the introduction of health-care complex. According to WHO recommendations on evaluating the effectiveness of health education programs, given that the results of sanitary and educational work are slowly revealed, there were conducted three consecutive stages - close, intermediate and distant. The high efficiency of the proposed health-care complex was confirmed by clinical and laboratory studies within 24 months. Reduction of caries of permanent teeth in 24 months of observation was 88.4%.
