Essay

The dissertation outlines the range of theoretical-literary issues, related to the image of the author in the biographical and memoir prose in English literature of the postmodern period based on the creative works of Martin Amis. For the first time in Ukrainian literary studies an attempt has been made to comprehend conceptually the artistic practice of the prosaist as an outstanding master of English word. In his works "Experience", "The Rachel Papers", "The Pregnant Widow", "London Fields", "Money: A Suicide Note", "Other People", "Information" the influence of V. Nabokov over the creator is specified. It is proved that the image of the author in the textual structure of the biographical and memoir prose of Martin Amis fundamentally secures the integrity of the author's position. Owing to this the creator of the autobiographical novel "Experience" reaches the illusion of the presence of the narrator in the light of descriptivness.
