Melnychuk N. Adjectival emotive units in English language worldview: semantic and word-formation aspects

The paper advances a new comperehensive approach towards the study of emotive adjectival units which reflect the direct expression of emotions in speech. It summarizes the results of contemporary investigations of emotional states in psychology and linguistics; analyzes the peculiarities of lexical semantic field of emotive adjectives in the English language worldview; defines the most productive derivational affixes and models of derived adjectives and the role of semantic factors in their word-building. The scientific paper determines semantic, structural and pragmatic peculiarities of English emotive adjectives and reveals their functional specificities.
