The present thesis focuses on the analysis of verbal representation, structure and content of the perceptual concepts HARD / SOFT, actualized in the modern English discourse. The concepts under study are defined as cognitive information structures of individual and intersubjective knowledge which include verbalized and non-verbalized („image-like”) senses about perceptual features „hard” / „soft” and belong to the experiential-parametrical category. The thesis investigates the semantic structure of the verbalized concepts. The notional constituents have been analyzed on the basis of lexicographic materials.
