Object - the formation of cluster structures to ensure the competitiveness of the region. Purpose - to study theoretical bases and methodological approaches to the formation of cluster formations and patterns of development of the region and to develop practical recommendations for evaluating the effectiveness of the cluster in the region. Methods - historical analysis, dialectical knowledge and logical analysis, economic-statistical, and comparative analysis, grouping, economic-mathematical modeling indicated method, graphical method. Results - formation of cluster formations and patterns of development. Novelty - improved concept formation of the cluster, the system of comprehensive assessment of the effectiveness of the cluster; reasonably formation of a regional cluster algorithm that takes into account the need for adjustments to action in the event of unjustified decisions or identify inefficiencies cluster formation; A structural model of regional innovation clusters "Drohobych"; theoretically grounded scientific and methodical approach to the systematization of cluster formations; refined strategy formation cluster; formed the methodological principles of state policy on forming clusters in the region.
