This research focuses on the legal basis of control and supervision powers of the National Bank of Ukraine. The theoretical and legal basis of control and supervision powers of the National Bank of Ukraine are characterized. The concept banking supervision and banking supervision and their etymology are reviewed. An own definition of banking supervision is suggested. Stages of bank control are detailed. The features of realization National Bank's powers are suggested. Forms of realization of control and supervision powers are reviewed. Subjects of realization of control and supervision powers of the National Bank of Ukraine are characterized. The areas of improvement implementation of control and supervision powers of the National Bank of Ukraine are examined.
