3. The results of the radiological monitoring of the 90Sr content in the soil on the territory bordering on the Exclusion Zone are presented in the thesis. Also the up-to-date information on the levels of the radioactive contamination of food grains and firewood by 90Sr and these levels compliance with the PL-2006 and SSSAR-2005, in the critical areas of Kyiv and Chernihiv regions are presented. The specific activity of radionuclides in the soil, grain and wood products, the content of the exchangeable calcium in the soil and pH of the soil solution were determined, the transfer and accumulation factors of 90Sr to grain and wood were calculated, the dependences of the 90Sr content in the products on the content of the exchangeable calcium in the soil and on its acidity were obtained. Also the possibility of future use of these products was assessed. In addition the field experiment on the research of the effectiveness of countermeasures (liming and increasing the amounts of phosphate fertilizers) was conducted.
