Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the improvement of efficiency of the treatment for mandibular fractures in young patients through the development of indications for use of antibiotics. The treatment regimen with or with no antibiotics revealed a definite regularity in the course of reparative processes that demonstrated no dependence on the method of medical treatment and manifested in typical metabolic reactions. The degree of severity of these reactions was different for various treatments. On the base of the obtained results the indications for usage of antibiotics in young adults with mandibular fractures were formulated. It has been proved that the patients with traumatic fractures of mandibular body and angle with no concomitant chronic internal diseases, aged 18 - 35 years old, hospitalized no later than 48 hours after injury with no signs of inflammation in the fracture area after reduction and immobilization of debris do not require prescription of antibiotics.
