Itsenko O. The Religious and Spiritual Views of Metropolitan Alexis (Gromadsky): Philosophical and Religious Studies Aspect

The dissertation represents the complete reconstruction, the complex analysis, philosophical and religious interpretation of religious and spiritual views of the Exarch of the Autonomous Orthodox Church in Ukraine Metropolitan Alexis (O. J. Gromadsky), reflected in his philosophical and theological works, epistolary inheritance and public activity. The main religious literature about the figure is reviewed, the research of different points of views and appreciations is outlined. The connection of the socio-cultured transformations of the epoch of the end XIX - and the first half of the XX century is displayed. The thematic directions, which influenced on the forms of religious and spiritual views of Gromadsky. The analysis of the original sources demonstrated that the main problems of philosophical and theological reflections of Exarch were the peculiarities of the interconfеssionals and church-state mutual relations, the complex of questions connected with union phenomenon, conceptual and historiosophical principles autocephalous of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and whole series of the general philosophical and ideological themes: the problems of good and evil, the human perfection and suffering, interrelations of religion and science, church and school, personality and socium and so on.
